Shires Rest (Sleeps 5 + 1)
Shires Rest is a pretty ‘upside down’, beamed cottage with plenty of character and great views across the farm and surrounding countryside. The cottage was named after the Shire Horses that used to live in the downstairs rooms (before it was converted from a barn to a cottage !), while the upstairs was used to store hay in the winter. You can still see many of the original features of the barn, like the exposed stone walls, the extra wide entrance door (wide enough for horses to get through!) and the upstairs door that was once used to load the hay too and from the horse drawn wagons that pulled up underneath.
About the Cottage:
The downstairs hall opens up onto a spacious double bedroom which has a king size bed and an en-suite shower room/W.C. Off the hall is a separate twin bedded room and a further single bedroom, both of which share use of the separate bathroom/W.C.
The whole of the first floor is a spacious open plan lounge / kitchen / dining space with a vaulted, beamed ceiling. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, plus a microwave, dishwasher , fridge and a separate freezer. The lounge has a brown leather three piece suite along with a 42” LCD digital TV and a DVD player. The cottage also has its own Wi-Fi and a smart TV so you can watch catchup TV and YouTube or your favourite Netflix or Amazon programmes (if you have an account for them).
The first floor has wood floors and a wood burning stove in the lounge area. From the upstairs lounge there are delightful views across the fields to Pelynt Village, plus views of the courtyard and children’s play area. There is a sitting area at the front of the cottage in the south facing courtyard – which is an ideal spot to sit in the sun while watching the children in the play area.
Shires Rest sleeps five adults or children and one additional child (max 12 years old) on a luxury fold-away single bed or in separate cot.
